Landon's Moves!

That's right our 1 year old is a dancin' fool! Gee, I wonder if that has to do with the fact that Mommy and Daddy danced right up to the time Landon was born? Here is a little sample of some of Landon's fine dancing...(sorry about the shaky camera Mommy was dancing too!)

Baby Signs: Bird

Landon is getting better at communicating and using some baby signs. Now when we are inside and you say "bird" he will do the sign and point outside! Here is little clip of the bird sign... (watch his right hand, it is an opening and closing of your index and middle fingers and your thumb)

(Sorry, it had to be cut a lot shorter than it was)

He is also good with "all done" when he is eating, which is very helpful so he doesn't get frustrated when we try to feed him more. He is starting to do "more" and "cup". He is also good with airplane and we are teaching him book, since he loves them. Our plan is just to use a few signs with him to help him communicate before he can say certain words, which these can be very handy.

Walk this way...

...and talk this way! It is official, we have a walker!! We have been working with Landon and having him walk from one person to another and trying to get the cat, etc. but last night he did it on his own volition, the true sign of walking. How it started, Mommy found Landon playing in the kitty food, Mommy and Daddy forgot to shut the door, well Mommy said, "Landon James, no touch!" and move him by the couch. As he stood there, we are only too sure what was going through his little mind, and all of a sudden off he goes, on his way back to where Mommy was cleaning up kitty food! He got there bent over and stuck a piece of the missed kitty kernels in his mouth! So, now we have a great story, the first time you walked it was to go eat cat food! Mommy tried to get a clip of Landon walking this morning, it isn't nearly as good as he did last night but still so cute. Here are a couple "Takes"...

WALKING:
Take I

Take II

Take III

OK, Landon just walked from the couch to Mommy sitting in the middle of the room while saying, "Mama" and came to give me a big kiss! Sweetest little boy ever!

Trip to Seattle

Well, we had a great weekend trip over to Seattle to see GiGi and Gpa. While we were there we had a little visit from Mommy's Grandpa and Grandma Louise, so Landon finally met his great-grandparents. We got a four generation picture Great Grandpa, Gpa, Mommy and Landon...
We had so much fun while Grandpa and Grandma Louise were getting to know Landon, and Daddy for that matter. Landon provided us with some live entertainment through out the weekend showing off in front of the family.
GiGi did a little relaxing with Landon (we caught the 2 seconds that she wasn't whirlwinding around being the hostest-with-the-mostest on film)...
Gpa took Landon for his first doughnut (burning rubber on dry pavement not the pastry)...
Interestingly enough, for a cognition psych class that Mommy took in college she had to recall her very first memory... It was doing doughnuts in her Daddy's '64' GTO with her car seat tied in with yellow rope. Well Mommy got to witness the tying of the car seat process this time. Any bets on what Landon's first memory will be? Perhaps doing doughnuts in his Gpa's '64' Le Mans tied in with rope! Although you can't see it in the video, Landon was cracking up and doing his goofy little laugh!
And we still had time to trot around the yard looking at everything in sight...
More pictures of our trip, and stay posted for even more!! Since we had 3 cameras going all weekend long!

Ki-Ca

Kitty Cat, for those of you that don't speak Landon. Mommy got a couple second shot before the memory card filled up (Gee go figure) of Landon and his Ki-Ca. We're pretty sure Mommy got a death glare from the cat at the end of this video, as she was so rudely awakened from her nap on the couch after Mommy set Landon next to her...

What's That?

For the past week now Landon has been pointing to everything, and we mean EVERYTHING, in our house saying, "sss dat?" ("what's that"). He really likes the comic board that Daddy made, lights, and a picture we have of Landon's feet in Mommy's hands. To the comic board we say "where's Spiderman?" and he points to the board. In the bedroom we'll say, "where's the picture?" and he points to the feet picture! Then the rest is, point, "sss dat?" It is pretty much the cutest thing! Landon is also learning body parts and when we say them he is starting to know where they are and point to them. He is definitely closer to communicating with us.

Also, we are getting closer and closer to the whole walking thing. He is getting better at standing for a few seconds on his own, and then, instead of a crash to the butt he has more of a controlled sit now. The other thing he likes to do to walk is push his piano around the room like it is a walker. Our little baby is going to be a little kid soon!!

BREAKING NEWS...

LANDON CAN OFFICIALLY CRAWL!! As of last night, we have a crawler. He did it. The funniest part is he always goes for the things he knows are off limits, i.e. cell phone, cords, etc. We put a toy about three feet in front of him and then Mommy's cell phone another two feet behind that, so Landon gets on his knees, crawls to the toy knocks it out of the way and then continues to the cell phone!! We have a bad boy. Today's project: Baby-Proofing. Here's a little video...

Popsicle Face

This is just a little clip of Landon eating some Popsicle with Mommy...

Swimming Lessons

We finally have some video of swimming lessons. Grandma Mary and Mommy were playing phone tag so Mommy didn't have the camera but Grandma got some video on her cell phone. This one is of Mommy dunking Landon under the water. We did a few times but the video clips aren't able to take that long of a video so you only get to see it twice...

In this one Landon is on the noodle, we do this so they can practice kicking their feet. You can see Landon's feet kicking away!

This last one is of a song we sing called Popcorn Man, instead of Muffin Man, and every time we say POP we pop Landon into the air and let him splash into the water.

Finally...The Wave

Well, we think that the other video was too big to be posted so we have been trying to capture the wave again but Landon wouldn't wave to the camera so we got it from behind...

Baby Signs: Up

We have decided to teach Landon a few baby signs. We have a book that talks about how to teach your baby to communicate not only using signs that are universally known but also to come up with indicators or signs that are easily identified by the parents and that are easy for your baby to do. We have been working with Landon on "up" and showing him to stretch out his arms towards us to be picked up. He is getting really good. We got it on film but it was cut short because we want to show positive reinforcement by actually picking him up when he does it.

And in other news, Mommy has her water bottle from the hospital that she got when delivering Landon that is toted everywhere and each time she has it in her hands Landon of course wants to have a drink too, or try to have a drink. Each time Mommy puts the straw to Landon's lips he more or less chews on it like a teether. Well, today after eating lunch he wanted the water bottle and Mommy put it to his lips. This time he figured out how the straw works, wrapping his lips around it and sucking! He got a big mouth full that was then dribbled down the front of him. We'll work on getting a video of that up here because it is too cute!

Yes, Peas... No, Thank You!!

Today we entered the world of baby food starting with PEAS! Dr. Keblawi, our pediatrician, said to start oatmeal, which we did the past couple weeks, then introduce baby foods starting with the green veggies. After the green veggies we will go to orange and yellow veggies and then we get to have the fun stuff... FRUIT!! Following this progression due to the allergy prone natures of the foods, green veggies having the least and fruits having the most. He said to introduce one food at a time and try it for a couple days, to make sure that he has no allergies to that food, before moving on to the next. So, being Mommy's least favorite we started with peas. We are pretty sure that Landon doesn't like peas either!
Here is the before shot...
Getting ready....
This says it all...
"No more peas, you guys had your fun!"
The interview...
And the after shot...we had to get that bright, beautiful smile!
So, we are going to see which foods Landon likes and doesn't like and then Mommy is going to take on the baby food making herself! We'll have an update on that project for you after we get there. We hope that you had a good laugh from these videos because we certainly did!

In the High Chair

We set-up the high chair last night for Landon..wow time is FLYING!! So for this morning's breakfast he got to try it out. It has some cool toys attached so he doesn't get too frustrated waiting for his food to come. He is so funny and already developing his own personality, if you don't feed him fast enough he will go ahead and tell you to speed it up with some grunts! He also keeps wanting to feed himself! Independent little bug!

I rolled over!!!

Landon is growing so fast!! As we were playing on the blanket this afternoon, Landon was on his stomach and had his elbows propped under him. He started to rock back and forth and finally pushed himself over. Maybe it was just a fluke...so over to his belly he went and again rocked himself back and forth a little bit then finally pushed himself over again! So, we tried it again and got it on tape! Go little guy,go! As you can see he got a little irritated at the end of all of this, so he had a little snack and is now fast asleep...
