The 1st Hair Cut

It is official, Landon has had his first "real" haircut!! We went this morning and had it done and he was a very good recipient.
Getting Started...

The first cut (excuse Mommy's appearance as it was not known that this was a dual thing and we were cleaning all morning!!) but Mommy's face is classic! Nervous much?!
"I'm so over this!!"

Finishing up...

Pickin' Pumpkins

Yesterday we ventured over to Grandpa Jeff and Grandma Debbie's home-made especially for Landon and Hailey pumpkin patch. Since Landon was only a couple weeks old at the patch last year he didn't get to pick out his pumpkin. This year he was very excited about this task...

"DeDe (Hailey in Landon language) I was carried the whole time last year, let me down."

"This is the one!"

"I guess this is more my size..."

The World!!

Since Landon is now over a year and a healthy 24 Lbs, and not to mention his feet were kicking the back of the seat, it was time to turn his car seat around. He is now forward facing and gets to see the world!! It was so cute when we went for our fist outing he looked around in amazement! Here is the big boy in his seat...
"THIS is what you guys have been looking at
the whole time I have been staring at a grey seat?!"

The Party!!

Landon had a blast at his very first Birthday party! He loved being the center of attention, to say the least. He did a great job opening all of his presents. Then he did quite the number on his cake!!
"Ohhhhhhhh yeah!"
Surprisingly enough, there was no cake in his hair so clean up was a breeze. Then he got right onto playing with his gifts!
Here are a few other shots from the party!

"What a great day! I woke up in Mommy and Daddy's bed, I have my Dinosaur show on and Mommy just handed me this great balloon!!"

Walk this way...

...and talk this way! It is official, we have a walker!! We have been working with Landon and having him walk from one person to another and trying to get the cat, etc. but last night he did it on his own volition, the true sign of walking. How it started, Mommy found Landon playing in the kitty food, Mommy and Daddy forgot to shut the door, well Mommy said, "Landon James, no touch!" and move him by the couch. As he stood there, we are only too sure what was going through his little mind, and all of a sudden off he goes, on his way back to where Mommy was cleaning up kitty food! He got there bent over and stuck a piece of the missed kitty kernels in his mouth! So, now we have a great story, the first time you walked it was to go eat cat food! Mommy tried to get a clip of Landon walking this morning, it isn't nearly as good as he did last night but still so cute. Here are a couple "Takes"...

WALKING:
Take I

Take II

Take III

OK, Landon just walked from the couch to Mommy sitting in the middle of the room while saying, "Mama" and came to give me a big kiss! Sweetest little boy ever!

1st Trip to the Dentist

Well, yesterday was Landon's first trip to the dentist. It was a great experience. We loved the entire staff and Dr. Molly is wonderful. Now, from here on out Landon will be going to the dentist every three months for fluoride treatments and on the six month intervals he will get the cleaning along with the fluoride treatment. Yesterday he had the cleaning, which entails the doctor checking each of his teeth (all eight of them), the polish, and the fluoride. The hygienist was worried, since it was Landon's first time, that the polisher would scare him. I told her not to worry because he loves to use Mommy's sonicare toothbrush. He loved the polish too. Landon has very good teeth so far and we plan to keep them that way!! Here is a picture...
We will do knee to knee check ups until Landon is 2.

What's That?

For the past week now Landon has been pointing to everything, and we mean EVERYTHING, in our house saying, "sss dat?" ("what's that"). He really likes the comic board that Daddy made, lights, and a picture we have of Landon's feet in Mommy's hands. To the comic board we say "where's Spiderman?" and he points to the board. In the bedroom we'll say, "where's the picture?" and he points to the feet picture! Then the rest is, point, "sss dat?" It is pretty much the cutest thing! Landon is also learning body parts and when we say them he is starting to know where they are and point to them. He is definitely closer to communicating with us.

Also, we are getting closer and closer to the whole walking thing. He is getting better at standing for a few seconds on his own, and then, instead of a crash to the butt he has more of a controlled sit now. The other thing he likes to do to walk is push his piano around the room like it is a walker. Our little baby is going to be a little kid soon!!

BREAKING NEWS...

LANDON CAN OFFICIALLY CRAWL!! As of last night, we have a crawler. He did it. The funniest part is he always goes for the things he knows are off limits, i.e. cell phone, cords, etc. We put a toy about three feet in front of him and then Mommy's cell phone another two feet behind that, so Landon gets on his knees, crawls to the toy knocks it out of the way and then continues to the cell phone!! We have a bad boy. Today's project: Baby-Proofing. Here's a little video...

Happy Friday!

We are getting ready to head over to Seattle for the weekend to Visit GiGi and G'Pa for Mother's Day! This past week was a fun one... We wrapped up the last of this sessions swim lessons and while we were in the pool Landon was doing his "mmmmm" "mmmmm" and guess what came out?! "Ma-Ma"!!! We won't call it official because we are still working on getting it out consistently, but it was great to hear. The more tummy time Landon has the closer he is getting to be up and on the move. He can turn on his tummy by using his arms and he gets closer and closer every day to being able to get him self into crawl position from laying on the ground. When he sits, if there is something that he wants that is out of his reach he leans to one side and goes over to his tummy to get it. He can move either his legs or his arms in the crawl position but then falls to his tummy because he is to stretched out. All he has to do now is figure out that he can move his legs and arms at the same time in crawl position and he will be on the go!
Here is a couple cute pics from last week of Landon and Gus. Gus is Grandma Mary's yellow lab and Landon LOVES him!
Happy Mother's Day and enjoy your weekend!

Finally...The Wave

Well, we think that the other video was too big to be posted so we have been trying to capture the wave again but Landon wouldn't wave to the camera so we got it from behind...

The Wave

Well this is going to have to be an update post since we haven't posted anything since Easter Sunday.
Two days ago Landon started to wave!! It is so cute he moves his wrist like he is in a Parade and it is always with his right hand. He does most things with his right hand so we are thinking that we have a righty on our hands, which is good because it is so much easier to teach them to write when they are the same as you are. We got the wave on video this morning, please excuse Mommy's singing since she can't carry a tune in a bucket, let alone a song, at least Landon like it!

(The video isn't working so we'll get it up soon...hopefully!)

This week Landon started being more interested in the pictures in the book where as before he was more interested in eating the book or trying to figure out how it could fit into his mouth. He continues to grow vocally as well. He is talking a lot now. We also had his first word..."Da-Da". He has been doing the whole "da-da-da-da-da" thing for awhile now, but just recently he has started to associate who "Da-Da" really is. About 5 o'clockish Landon will start with "Da-Da?" "Da-DA!" until Daddy gets home, which is about 40 minutes. Then when he sees Daddy he says, "Da-Da." What a heart warmer to come home from work to hear that! We are still working on "Ma-Ma", but Landon does call Mommy "mmmmm", so we have the right sound.

This was just a cute little sleeping shot!

This is a couple days ago when we were learning how to build blocks!! Mommy and Daddy build and Landon is the "Destroyer"!

Swing away...

Today Mommy and Landon went to the little park by our house and Landon had his first swinging experience, well other than his baby swing in the house. He had a blast! And looked so cute in the plane swing! He was talking to Mommy but as soon as she tried to get him on film he stopped talking, little booger! But, here are the pictures... He's so camera shy!!

Happy St. Patty's Day!!

Here is Landon's green, Mommy didn't remember the holiday until this morning as we were walking out the door so this is Landon's St. Patrick's Day shirt. And that is the truth, he is Mommy's Little Monster!

Landon also deserves around of applause. Remember last month how he was doing the tripod sitting? Well we have been working on his sitting upright by putting one of his toys that brings his attention eye-level instead of looking down to his feet for toys. He got the hang of it and has been able to sit upright for a few seconds, but today he was able to hold it upright long enough for Mommy to get a couple pictures...

Landon's First Tooth

Last week we battled through a few tough nights of Landon waking up three and four times (which makes us really appreciate that he usually sleeps 9-10 hours per night) while getting his first little tooth. He had a little bit of a temperature, was really "drooly" and a bit grumpy but on Saturday it finally popped through and he felt much better and went back to his 7:30pm to 6:30am night routine. Now, it looks like the second bottom one is coming up. After we get past these two it will be on to the top two.
If you look close you can see his tooth on the right side...
It's that little white line! We'll put up a better picture when there is more tooth to be seen. Now wish us luck through the next couple nights!

In the High Chair

We set-up the high chair last night for Landon..wow time is FLYING!! So for this morning's breakfast he got to try it out. It has some cool toys attached so he doesn't get too frustrated waiting for his food to come. He is so funny and already developing his own personality, if you don't feed him fast enough he will go ahead and tell you to speed it up with some grunts! He also keeps wanting to feed himself! Independent little bug!

Baby Tripod Sitting

Yeah Landon!! He can tripod, the first stage of sitting upright where baby sits on his tushy holding his arms straight out in front of him with his hands on the ground!! We have been working with him on the bed for the last few weeks. We would hold him upright in sitting position and them let him fall back onto the bed to learn the muscles he needs to sit. Well, today we had him on the bed again and we sat him in position and he stayed! He even started falling and corrected his fall by shifting his weight. Way to go buddy! See how proud he is...
"Wow, I can do it!"

Becoming Independent

Landon has decided that he wants to hold his own bottle now so we are rolling with it. He has been putting his little hands on his bottle when we feed him for awhile now, so the other day we tried just having him hold it with a little of our help. Now, he is graduating to sitting by himself and holding it with just a little help to get it back in his mouth when he drops it, since his is still learning the balancing of pressure between both hands thing.
Here he is displaying his great bottle holding skill...

I rolled over!!!

Landon is growing so fast!! As we were playing on the blanket this afternoon, Landon was on his stomach and had his elbows propped under him. He started to rock back and forth and finally pushed himself over. Maybe it was just a fluke...so over to his belly he went and again rocked himself back and forth a little bit then finally pushed himself over again! So, we tried it again and got it on tape! Go little guy,go! As you can see he got a little irritated at the end of all of this, so he had a little snack and is now fast asleep...
