Bad to the bone

Landon was being a bad boy this afternoon and didn't want to take his nap, so Mommy did his hair to reflect his mood. He is such a dude...
And here is a close up of that second tooth...

It's BANANAS!!

We are onto fruit!! Yesterday Landon had bananas with his cereal for breakfast. He seemed to like them but his nose has been a little stuffy while his second bottom tooth has been cutting though, so we aren't quite sure that he could taste them that well. So today, we cleared his nose before breakfast and had the cereal and bananas again and this time they were a bigger hit! If we fed him just the cereal he would grunt to tell you he wanted the bananas too and when it was just a spoon full of bananas we was all giggles!
And last night that second tooth finally poked through Landon's tiny little gums. The first one is pretty prominent now and he loves to use it on anything that can fit in his mouth.
And by the way, it is almost April and it is SNOWING here today!

Swing away...

Today Mommy and Landon went to the little park by our house and Landon had his first swinging experience, well other than his baby swing in the house. He had a blast! And looked so cute in the plane swing! He was talking to Mommy but as soon as she tried to get him on film he stopped talking, little booger! But, here are the pictures... He's so camera shy!!

Bird Watching

Our new adventure is going to be bird watching with Landon this Spring and Summer. We have an ornithology book and a big bag of bird seed and have started practicing taking pictures of our birds and classifying them. We made our little friends a pine cone feeder that they love and throw them seed daily.

Happy St. Patty's Day!!

Here is Landon's green, Mommy didn't remember the holiday until this morning as we were walking out the door so this is Landon's St. Patrick's Day shirt. And that is the truth, he is Mommy's Little Monster!

Landon also deserves around of applause. Remember last month how he was doing the tripod sitting? Well we have been working on his sitting upright by putting one of his toys that brings his attention eye-level instead of looking down to his feet for toys. He got the hang of it and has been able to sit upright for a few seconds, but today he was able to hold it upright long enough for Mommy to get a couple pictures...

Mama's Kitchen

Remember back when we introduced solids to Landon and we talked about Mommy making Landon's food? Mission accomplished! Mommy found a really cool website, wholesomebabyfood.com, which has tons of info from baby food recipes and storage to meal plans and more! And after some research about organic vs not, we went organic. So this morning after walking, we went to the store and bought some veggies then came home and Mommy had a project afternoon.
Before...
During...
And the baby food... This is the acorn squash.
After this stage, Mommy scooped the baby food into ice trays, each cube makes an individual meal, and into the freezer they go. After they are frozen we will put them into freezer bags and they will last up to 8 months!

Also, we did a Cost Benefit Analysis:
The total for the organic veggies was $8.49, this made about 70 meals, which is about 12 cents per meal.
To buy Organic Gerber baby food it costs about 31 cents per meal.
Landon has a few more weeks of veggies, then at 6 months he will get fruits!

Baby Signs: Up

We have decided to teach Landon a few baby signs. We have a book that talks about how to teach your baby to communicate not only using signs that are universally known but also to come up with indicators or signs that are easily identified by the parents and that are easy for your baby to do. We have been working with Landon on "up" and showing him to stretch out his arms towards us to be picked up. He is getting really good. We got it on film but it was cut short because we want to show positive reinforcement by actually picking him up when he does it.

And in other news, Mommy has her water bottle from the hospital that she got when delivering Landon that is toted everywhere and each time she has it in her hands Landon of course wants to have a drink too, or try to have a drink. Each time Mommy puts the straw to Landon's lips he more or less chews on it like a teether. Well, today after eating lunch he wanted the water bottle and Mommy put it to his lips. This time he figured out how the straw works, wrapping his lips around it and sucking! He got a big mouth full that was then dribbled down the front of him. We'll work on getting a video of that up here because it is too cute!

Sweet Potato Boy

Landon loves his "num-nums"! So far he has had peas, green beans, celery, carrots, prunes and on Wednesday we introduced sweet potatoes and to say the least he loved them! In between bites he would shake his little feet so fast waiting for the next. And he is still loving the whole I can feed myself thing, well until his spoon is empty!

Mommy's 9 months on 9 months off: The Plan

Well, I am happy to say that I have been losing my baby weight pretty well so far. I gained 36 pounds during the pregnancy and in the last 5 months since Landon was born I have lost 25 pounds! I have been walking pretty religiously in the morning. Landon and I have become "mall walkers". It's pretty cute because I am the youngest one by about 40 years! All the ladies love to look at Landon when we pass by. I have a little couple who always talks to us and ask how my weight loss is going, so cute. This plan has done well for me so far, but these last few pounds are being a little more stubborn so I have a new regiment. Since I am working at Gold's Gym I get a free membership, and let me tell you, I am putting it to use. I have a personal trainer, Nicole, and she is going to whip those last pounds right off! We are going to be meeting 3 times a week, Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and I will continue our "mall walking" on Tuesday and Thursday. My minimum goal is 10 more pounds, but seeing as though I got pregnant right after the holidays I think that my pre-pregnancy weight was a little skewed, so my stretch goal is 15 pounds. My goal date for accomplishment is July 1st 2009!

I started the weight training with Nicole on March 4th and so far so good. She makes me feel the burn. It has that "hurt so good" feeling. She started out a little light on me but yesterday she showed me no mercy! So, I will keep you updated as to how this is going, but by putting it on here it will hold me to the fire! Have a health inspired week!

Yeah for Celery

Landon is so proud of his new tooth! We cut a piece of celery and let him chew on it while he is having mat time and his loves digging that new tooth into it. As for that other one, it looks like it is getting closer to surfacing each day. Last night was not a fun one. We also think that he is going through another growth spurt on top of getting that other tooth. So lots of new things going on.

Here is the proud little guy with his celery...

And a few minutes later! Landon loves the kitty and she is starting to reciprocate the feelings, well at least until he is running around after her trying to pull her tail! Watch out Booger! Oh and they are both on Mommy's lap together...

Landon's First Tooth

Last week we battled through a few tough nights of Landon waking up three and four times (which makes us really appreciate that he usually sleeps 9-10 hours per night) while getting his first little tooth. He had a little bit of a temperature, was really "drooly" and a bit grumpy but on Saturday it finally popped through and he felt much better and went back to his 7:30pm to 6:30am night routine. Now, it looks like the second bottom one is coming up. After we get past these two it will be on to the top two.
If you look close you can see his tooth on the right side...
It's that little white line! We'll put up a better picture when there is more tooth to be seen. Now wish us luck through the next couple nights!

Daddy's Productions: Hulk VS Thing

It's Saturday night and Landon went to bed on time, which is 7:30, so what did Mommy and Daddy do? ... produced a stop motion film, or should we say clip, since it's only 30 seconds long! We bought a new camera and decided the best way to learn all of it's functions is to practice. So, we used two of Daddy's comic book action figures and produced our clip. We have also had a couple competitions on picture taking and editing. It's been really fun so far and now we will be equipped with the skills and know how when we see a great shot. This is our film...
